Palau Visa Policy Overview#
Palau maintains a structured entry system for 198 different nationalities. The government categorizes visitors based on their country of citizenship to determine whether they can enter without prior authorization, obtain a permit upon arrival, or must apply for a formal visa before traveling. The majority of global citizens fall under the visa-on-arrival category, while a smaller group of nations enjoy visa-free access for specific durations. A very small number of nationalities are required to secure a visa before they can enter the country.
Visa-Free and Visa-on-Arrival Access#
Access to Palau is divided into several tiers of visa-free entry and visa-on-arrival permissions. The most extensive visa-free access is granted to citizens of the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, and the United States, who may enter the country for up to 360 days without a visa.
A significant group of 29 nationalities is permitted visa-free entry for a stay of up to 90 days. Additionally, citizens of Russia are granted visa-free entry for a period of 30 days.
The most common method of entry for international visitors is the visa-on-arrival system, which applies to 163 different nationalities. This allows travelers to obtain their entry permit upon reaching the border. While most of the world has streamlined access to Palau, there are specific nationalities that must undergo a formal visa application process before they are permitted to enter the country. Currently, this requirement applies to two nationalities. Citizens of Bangladesh and Myanmar are required to obtain a visa prior to their arrival in Palau. Travelers from these nations should ensure their documentation is processed and approved before beginning their journey to avoid entry denial.
